Important Note:  CabWriter 6 includes new defaults as explained in the release notes, which means it may or may not work properly when opening a CabWriter 5.x model. The safest course is to finish up any CabWriter 5.x model using CabWriter 5 and start any new models with version 6.

If you must open a version 5 model with version 6, the best practice is to use the Re-Load Factory Settings (RFS) tool after opening it with the new version, then saving the file. Any cabinets drawn after that will include the new settings.  If you use the Retrieve Cabinet Defaults tool and draw a new cabinet, it will also include the new defaults.  If you don’t use the RFS tool, you may experience intermittent behavior when drawing cabinets.

Feedback:

If you have any questions or would like to report a bug, feature request, or questionable behavior with the software, please do so using our forum so we can keep track of the issues and also allow others to jump in on the conversation.

Your feedback is incredibly important to us in order for us to make CabWriter the best product it can be and to insure that it meets the needs of you, the cabinetmaker.  Please feel free to post any and all suggestions and feedback.  Keep in mind that we can’t incorporate everything, but it never hurts to ask!

CabWriter v7.0.2  (Home, Pro, Closet, and CNC)

February 9th, 2024

Changes in v7.0.2

  • Bug fixes

Changes in v7.0.1

  • Implemented a workaround for a SketchUp bug introduced in version 23.1.340 64 bit that prevented the story stick from operating properly. This does not appear to affect the Mac, although another bug was also introduced that doesn’t allow the tool icons to render properly.
  • Fixed an issue with EDU License keys where an error was occurring when launching SketchUp and verifying the license key.
  • Other bug fixes, see release notes for details.

Important Note:  CabWriter 7 includes new defaults as explained in the release notes, which means it may or may not work properly when opening a CabWriter version 6.x or below model. The safest course is to finish up any earlier version CabWriter model using that same version and start any new models with version 7.

If you must open a version 6 model with version 7, the best practice is to use the Re-Load Factory Settings (RFS) tool after opening it with the new version, then saving the file. Any cabinets drawn after that will include the new settings.  If you use the Retrieve Cabinet Defaults tool and draw a new cabinet, it will also include the new defaults.  If you don’t use the RFS tool, you may experience intermittent behavior when drawing cabinets.
