CabWriter Comprehensive – Part 1
CabWriter Comprehensive is a multi-part video course designed to teach you CabWriter, and how to use CabWriter to design, draw and export all the files needed to fabricate high end custom cabinets, office furniture, vanities, closet storage, workshop benches, entertainment centers, furniture or any other type of storage unit. The files created by CabWriter include cut lists and DXF files for table saw cutting or CNC machine milling. The model we will use is pictured at right. This kitchen design was developed as a teaching aid. It includes numerous types of cabinets and cabinet situations. It was not designed to be efficient, so please don’t write me about work triangles. On the other hand you will find this design to be quite complete as far as modeling goes. Creating professional shop drawing in LayOut will be reserved for a future series. What we will cover in this course is all of the modeling and scene creation necessary to create those professional drawings and we will produce the files necessary for cut listing, sheet optimization and CNC cutting.
In this Part 1 I will give you a tour of the model shown above right. I will show you the various types of cabinets used in the kitchen model. I will introduce you to the various scenes needed for exporting to LayOut. We will take a look at what is necessary to create a cut list and look at two types of optimization tools: CutList Plus fx from Bridgewood Design and Cut2D Pro from Vectric. In fact, we will produce these files in this part to show you how quick and easy it is.
